This fall, singer-songwriter Sasha Chaa is releasing her first body of work ‘’Grow’’. Having moved, in the span of five years, from Calgary to Montreal, then from Montreal to Toronto, Canadian cities where she built many bridges and paved her way through the local scenes, one can say "Grow" is the fittest title for her introduction to the world. But her journey does not start here. Chaa was born in Germany, of Algerian parents. As a child, her family was constantly travelling between Europe and North Africa, which made building lasting friendships very difficult for her and her siblings. Music was not played nor approved in her very conservative household, and Sasha was left feeling out of place more than once in her early days. At 18, Sasha decided to follow her own path, packed her bags and her influences and committed to building a safe environment for her artistry. A decisive moment in her teen days was the Spice Girls' famous "Girl Power", a message that spoke to Sasha's spirit.
At 25, Sasha has a few singles up her belt, music videos that she actively participated in directing, and even short film role as Lola Jones, a singer whose voice is lost. With her mantra just be to and grow, Sasha Chaa is definitely self-prophecizing. And with her E.P Grow, she hopes to inspire her audience to do just that: to Just be and to grow and let go.
